District Panchayat elections in Gujarat: BJP wins 81.71% seats, 54.19% vote share

Gandhinagar: Ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has won 800 of total 979 district panchayat seats in recently concluded local elections, results of which have been declared today. 800 out of 979 is 81.71 per cent score, seat wise.
Against 800 votes won by BJP, Congress has been able to win 169 seats, other parties 7 (including 2 to AAP, 1 to BSP) and independents 3. Seat wise, Congress has won 17.26 per cent of total seats.
BJP won 54.19 per cent of total votes, numbering nearly 86 lakh. Main opposition Congress party could attract 39.17 per cent votes numbering over 62 lakh.
Aam Admi Party has won 4.20 lakh votes followed by independents 320 lakh votes, other parties 2.32 lakh votes, BSP got around 48,000 votes, NCP 26,500 votes.
31 districts of the State went to election. All 31 district panchayats have been won by BJP with clear majority.
