Gandhinagar: The Gujarat High Court today conveyed the State government that urgent serious steps are needed to be taken to check the spread of Covid19 infection, otherwise it’s going to go out of hand. A two-judge bench headed by Chief Justice Vikram Nath suggested Advocate General Kamal Trivedi that lockdown or curfew for three-four days may check the situation at the moment.

‘You may please convey our message to the decision makers that urgent serious steps need to be taken to check this otherwise it’s going to go out of hand and then it would be you know situation where again a lockdown will have to be, it’s almost reaching there. May be three four day of curfew or lockdown may check the situation at the moment. Then you an again open it. Two days or three days curfew will help I think. Like initially in March 2020 there was a curfew for three days, two days, over the weekend,’ the Chief Justice told the Advocate General.

He added, ‘in case you have something which we can do, please feel free to come to us.’

Chief Justice Vikram Nath suggested Advocate General Kamal Trivedi who represents the State government in the High Court that gatherings should be curtailed in large scale and no political functions, social functions, meetings should be allowed.

The Chief Justice suggested that maximum limit of persons allowed in funeral, weddings and other functions should be 25-30-50 and that too depending on the area available, such as 5 sq ft or whatever experts suggest.

The Chief Justice further said, the limit of gathering of maximum 200 persons should be immediately cut down to 50 or 25 or immediate family members and no more.

The Chief Justice also suggested that there should be a limit on number of employees working in particular establishment. ‘We are going to do same for the High Court and District Courts also,’ the Chief Justice said. DeshGujarat
