Gujarat government – IOCL sign MoU

Gandhinagar: A memorandum of understanding was signed today between Government of Gujarat and Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL) today in the presence of Chief Minister Rupani and union petroleum, natural gas and steel minister Dharmendra Pradhan here for expansion of IOCL Gujarat Refinery. Gujarat is petrochemical’s mother bed, leading country’s petrochemicals sector, said Dharmendra Pradhan.

As per MoU signed today, IOCL will set up six projects investing Rs. 24,000 crore and create direct or indirect employment to over 25,000 persons. The projects include LuPech Project for petrochemicals, Acrylics-Oxo Alcohol Project at Dumad, Infrastructure for KAhSPL at JR & Dumad, Shifting of LAB TTL Facility in Dumad, New Flare at JR and Hydrogen dispensing facility

Pradhan in his address admired Gujarat government for its nod to supply its own oxygen to Delhi and the other parts of the country during Covid19 pandemic. Pradhan said Vadodara refinery expansion plan will include provision of setting up an oxygen plant in order to create additional oxygen generation capacity in Gujarat.

Pradhan requested Gujarat government to come up with an affordable rental housing scheme as sub scheme of PM Awas Yojana for 7,000 to 8,000 unorganized workers who will come for work at IOCL project. Pradhan suggested that the Ste government can provide a piece of land, so that IOCL can be able to make 1,000 residential units as pilot project.

Pradhan said the Prime Minister will through physical or virtual presence in near future will kick off the ICOL refinery expansion project.
