Govt to bear cost of phase-1 of Surat Multi Model Mass Transportation Hub project

Surat: Instead of a Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode, the project of Multi Model Mass Transportation Hub (MMTH) replacing Surat Railway station will be executed solely through the Central Government, CR Patil here while speaking at installation ceremony of new office bearers of Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industries (SGCCI).
Gujarat Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief and Navsari Lok Sabha MP CR Patil while speaking in reference to proposed Multi Model Mass Transportation Hub (MMTH) at Surat Railway station said that the decision has been taken that the Central government will borne the cost of model railway station of Surat entirely instead of PPP model which was planned earlier to execute this project.
The Centre may bear the expenses of Rs 850 crores to develop the amenities in operation area of the railway station by keeping the commercial area reserved. Tenders are also issued for the same. The development of Commercial Area in Surat railway station will be done in Phase 2 after the completion of Amenities area. Minister of Railways Ashwini Vaishnav and Union State Minister of Railways Darshana Jardosh will soon visit Surat to monitor the progress of Surat and Udhna Railway station projects, he said.
The process for Rs. 400 crore revamp and reconstruction project of Udhna Satellite Railway Station has also started which involves the construction of two new platforms in addition to existing 4 platforms apart from other works. DeshGujarat
