Kim – Vadodara 8-lane Expressway to complete by December 2021: Nitin Gadkari

Gandhinagar: Union Road and Transport minister Nitin Gadkari today in a virtual address said that ongoing works on Rs. 8,711 crore 125 km expressway connecting Kim to Vadodara via Ankleshwar will be completed by December 2021. This stretch connecting Gujarat’s second largest city Surat to third largest city Vadodara is part of proposed Delhi – Mumbai expressway.
Gadkarai said Delhi-Mumbai expressway will make it possible to travel between Delhi and Mumbai in just 12 hours. The works on this highway project are progressing speedily in Gujarat on 425 km Vadodara – Mumbai stretch at a cost of Rs. 25,000 crore. In all, the expressway will pass through seven district, namely – Dahod, Panchmahal, Vadodara, Bharuch, Surat, Valsad and Dadra and Nagar Haveli.
He said 85 km 8 lane greenfield works in Gujarat worth Rs. 6,419 crore as part of Delhi – Mumbai expressway will be awarded by October 2021 on Thandla (near Zabua) – Dahod stretch.
Gadkari said proposed expressway will prove like ‘vardan’ (boon) for tribal areas of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat. It will attract industries and businesses and benefit farmers.
Gadkari was speaking in ‘Vikas Divas’ function of Gujarat government virtually from national capital New Delhi.
