Vehicle Scrapping Policy: Gujarat govt signs six MoUs

Gandhinagar: The Government of Gujarat today signed six memorandums of understanding (MoUs) in connection with scrapping policy launched by union minister Nitin Gadkari in State capital Gandhinagar today.
MoUs were signed by Gujarat government with Mahindra Recycling pvt ltd, Tata Motors, CMR Katariya, Modest Infrastructure, Mascot Engitech Pvt Ltd and Mono Steel in virtual presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and physical presence of Chief Minister Rupani, Dy CM Nitin Patel among others.
One MoU was signed by Commissioner of Transport of Assam government with SM group of Assam.
The vehicle scrapping policy will be effective from 1st October 2021.
Over two crore private, government, commercial vehicles that belong to pre-2005 period are to be scraped. Scrapping provision for private vehicles will be after 20 years period. Scrap vehicle parks will come up in Alang and Kutch in Gujarat. The government will stress on environment friendly scrapping. There are over one crore vehicles that are unfit but on roads.
