Pankaj Kumar appointed as new Chief Secretary of Gujarat

Gandhinagar Pankaj Kumar, a 1986 batch officer of Indian Administrative Service (IAS) has been appointed as the Chief Secretary of Gujarat with effect from 31st of August. Pankaj Kumar is Additional Chief Secretary at present. He will replace outgoing Chief Secretary Anil Mukim who retires on 31st of August after two extensions given to him.
Born on 6 May 1962, Pankaj Kumar was appointed to IAS on 25 August 1986. He was appointed Additional Chief Secretary on 15 June 2017. B.Tech (Civil Engineering) from IIT Kanpur, Pankaj Kumar is also MBA (Public Policy & Management). Pankaj Kumar is from Patna, Bihar. He is senior most IAS officer in Gujarat cadre after outgoing Chief Secretary Anil Mukim. Other senior IAS officers of Gujarat cadre, late Guruprasad Mohapatra, Vipul Mittra, Dr. Rajiv Kumar Gupta were his batchmates, as they all were appointed to IAS on the same date.
Pankaj Kumar will retire from Indian Administrative Service on 31st of May 2022.
