Gujarat celebrating Janmasthami today, the 5248th birth anniversary of Bhagwan Krishna

Devbhumi Dwarka: Gujarat is celebrating the festival of Janmashtami today. Krishna Mandirs including the ones at Dwarka, Dakor and Shamlaji and ISKCON mandirs across the State are attracting large number of visitors today after closed-doors last year due to Covid-19 pandemic. Majority of Hindus are observing ‘Farali’ fast today.
Like every year, a tall and ancient Shri Dwarkadhish Mandir or Jagat Mandir in Dwarka is the hub of various festivities of Janmashtami, the 5248th birth anniversary of Bhagwan Krishna.
A large number of devotees are visiting Shri Dwarkadhish Temple on this occasion. The temple remained closed for three days on this occasion last year due to the Covid-19 pandemic. However, this year the mandir is open for the visitors.
The temple is decorated with lights, flowers and other objects. The celebration of Lord Krishna’s birth or Janm-Utsav will be done at 12 midnight. The parna-nom will be celebrated tomorrow on 31st August. People will be able to do the darshan on online mode as well.
The celebration started with the Mangla Aarti at 6 AM today. The Janmotsav aarti will be performed at 12 midnight and the temple will be closed at 2.30 AM. Later, the Parna Utsav Darsham will be at 7 AM tomorrow on the festival of Parna-Nom. DeshGujarat
