Gandhinagar: Polling for the general election of Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation (GMC) will take place on 3rd October, Sunday during 7 am to 6 pm. The State Election Commission of Gujarat made this announcement. With this, model code of conduct is effective in the State capital.

Notification for the election will be out on 13th September. The last date of filing nominations shall be 18th September. Scrutiny of nominations shall take place on 20th September. Last date for withdrawal of nominations is 21st September. Re polling if required will take place on 4th October while counting will take place on 5th October.

Due to Covid-19 pandemic, GMC election which was earlier scheduled to take place in the month of April this year was postponed. The candidates who had filed nominations for April election will not require to file nominations again.

With this, general/mid-term elections of Thara, Okha and Bhanvad municipalities are also declared in October 2021. By-poll for two vacant seats of Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) and one seat of Junagadh Municipal corporation will also take place in October 2021.

By-polls for 39 vacant municipality seats in Vadnagar, Mahesana, Bhachau, Valsad, Umargam, Gandevi, Bilimora, Bharuch, Radhanpur, Chanasma, Limbid, Surendranagar, Lunawada, Sikka, Dwarka, Kheda, Dakor, Mahedavad, Bavla, Bareja, Dhandhuka, Upleta, Mansa, Visavdar, Manavdar, Talaja, Dhanera, Tarsadi, Modasa will also take place in October 2021.

By-polls for 8 vacant district panchayat seats of Navsari, Tapi, Rajkot, Kheda, Arvalli, Ahmedabad, and Gir Somnath will also take place in October 2021.

By-polls for 47 vacant seats of taluka panchayats at Sanand, Daskroi, Mahesana, Satlasna, Kheralu, Radhanpur, Harij, Vyara, Dolvan, Songadh, Nizar, Visavdar, Dwarka, Danta, Palanpur, Dantiwada, Amirgadh, Gandhinagar, Bhiloda, Bayad, Garbada, Dahod, Devgadhbariya, Bhavnagar rural, Morbi, Halvad, Prantij, Himmatnagar, Vadodara, Savli, Bharuch, Nadiad, Matar, Kheda, Vansda, Subir, Mandvi, Lunawada, Balashinor, Amreli and Godhra are also going to take place in October 2021.
