K Kailashnathan appointed as Chief Principal Secretary to Gujarat CM

Gandhinagar: Chief Ministers keep changing in Gujarat but one person stays on in the Chief Minister office and he is year 1979 batch retired Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer K. Kailashnathan who served in Chief Minister’s office during the tenure of then Chief Minister Narendrabhai Modi, Anandiben Patel and even vijaybhai Rupani.
As per an order released today Kailashnathan has been appointed on contractual basis as Chief Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister with effect from 13th September this year on co-terminus basis with the term of Chief Minister or until further order whichever is earlier. The terms and conditions of his appointment remains same as Government resolution dated 27th September 2016.
The 1979-batch IAS officer, who retired in 2013 as additional chief secretary (ACS) to the CM, continued to work in the chief minister’s office at a post specially created for him. Kailashnathan is the most trusted officer of the then CM and now Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He has been serving in the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) since July 4, 2006 and has continued there even after Modi shifted to Delhi the PM. He has now been in the CMO for around decade and half.
