509 Gujarat fishermen, 1141 fishing boats in Pakistan’s custody

Gandhinagar: At the ninth session of 14th Gujarat Legislative Assembly today, the Minister of Fisheries informed in reply to a question asked by an MLA stated that total 509 fishermen and 1141 fishing boats of the state are in custody of Pakistan at present.
He informed that 244 fishermen and 1094 boats of the state have been in custody of Pakistan for over a year. The state government has sent 18 memorandums within the last 2 years including 8 in 2019-20 and 10 in 2020-21 with the information of verification of nationality to the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India for release of the fishermen and fishing boats. As a result, a total 376 fishermen and nil boats were released from the control of Pakistan during the last 2 years. DeshGujarat
