Surat: The standing committee of Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) has confirmed the new policy for stray cattle in which the penalty for stray cattle is almost doubled in the city.

The penalty for stray cattle was Rs 250 to Rs 750 in the previous provisions of SMC. It will be now Rs 500 to 750 for the first time, and it will range between Rs 1500 to 4000 for the second and third time.

The cattle-keepers will have to show the details about having cattle-keeping facilities at the time of registration of cattle, in the new policy.
