BJP enjoys upper hand in panchayat by-polls in Gujarat with victory on 33 of 53 seats

Gandhinagar: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has achieved victory on 26 out of total 43 seats of Taluka Panchayats that went for bypolls. Indian National Congress (INC), Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and independent candidates achieved victory in 14, 2 and 1 seats respectively in these by-polls.
Out of the 48 vacant seats of taluka panchayat, 2 seats namely 12-Shale-1 of Nizar taluka and 4-Dhebar of Visavadar taluka were won by BJP unopposed. No forms were filled for 2 seats namely 7-Dalisana of Kheralu taluka and 12-Sankara of Harij taluka. The polling was cancelled for 4-Dalpura seat Danta Taluka due to continuation of existing position.
In District Panchayat by-polls, BJP achieved victory on 5 seats and INC on 3 seats out of the 8 vacant seats. DeshGujarat
