Hitesh Makwana elected new Mayor of Gandhinagar

Gandhinagar: Hitesh Makwana will be the fifth mayor of Gandhinagar city along with Premalsinh Gol as the deputy mayor.
The corporator of ward no. 8 Hitesh Makwana was elected as the mayor of Gandhinagar city in the general meeting of Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation (GMC) today.
Jaswantbhai Ambalal Patel was made Chairman of Standing Committee. Parulben Bhupatji Thakor has been made leader of the ruling party. Tejalben Yogeshbhai Nayi has been made a whip.
The new mayor Hitesh Makwana is the son of former BJP MLA Poonam Makwana. Gandhinagar city Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Ruchir Bhatt had issued the mandate to declare Hitesh Makwana as a new mayor. The proposal was put forward by Ward no. 6 corporator Gaurang Vyas and Ward no.4 corporator Bharat Dixit had supported the same.
BJP has achieved victory in 41 seats out of total 44 seats in the GMC election. The discussion regarding the selection of mayor and other office-bearers of GMC was done in the parliamentary board meeting of BJP held in the evening on Wednesday. DeshGujarat
