Rahul Gandhi likely to be in Surat on October 29

Surat: A local Chief Court here will take additional statements from Rahul Gandhi in the defamation case during 3 pm to 6 pm on Friday, 29th October.

In the course of the state assembly election campaign in year 2019, Rahul Gandhi had given a statement at Kolhar in Kerala that all the thieves have ‘Modi surname’ in common.

After that, the then Surat West MLA Purnesh Modi who is now minister in Gujarat government had filed a case of defamation against Rahul Gandhi as a member of Modi community. Rahul Gandhi had to remain present in the Surat chief court for this case after the court issued summons against him. His statement was taken for 2 hours.

Recently, an application for questioning of the election commissioner and a videographer was filed by the main complainant in court. A revision application was filed in Gujarat High Court after it was rejected. The Surat chief court had been permitted to question both these witnesses after the order of the High Court. Their statements were taken last Friday. Considering their statement, Rahul Gandhi’s additional statement will be taken on 29th October at the court. DeshGujarat
