Bullet train project: NHRCL invites tenders for 21-km tunnel

Gandhinagar: National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHRCL) has invited tenders on Friday for construction of a 21-km long tunnel between Bandra Kurla complex and Shilphata underground station for Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train.
The tenders are invited for Japanese and Indian companies and they can be submitted by March 2022. The bids are invited for the works of 7-km long undersea tunnel to be constructed using Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) and New Austrian Tunnelling Method (NATM) and 21-km long underground tunnelling.
The tunnel will be a single tube twin track tunnel with a diameter of 13.1 meter. Out of 20.37 kms, 15.42 km tunnelling will be done with 3 TBM and the remaining 4.96 km will be done with NATM. The cost of Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-speed Rail Corridor is Rs 1.08 lakh crores. DeshGUjarat
