Surat Love Jihad case: Police adds section pertaining to rape against accused

Surat: The accused Muslim man in the love jihad case of Puna area of Surat had allegedly raped the victim Hindu girl and forced her adopt Islam, as revealed during the investigation.
The accused Mohammad Malik (age: 21 years) living in Shri Mahalakshmi Apartment in Narayan Nagar in Puna area had allegedly abducted the 17-year old Hindu girl after giving fake identity using a Hindu name ‘Rahul Patel’. It was revealed in the police investigation that the accused had repeatedly raped the victim after taking her to various places and a farm house. He had forced her to perform namaz and adopt Islam. He had threatened the victim when she denied the religious conversion.
The accused Mohammad Malik had taken the victim to Bharuch after abducting her and to a farmhouse named Ostila the Villa in Karjan from there. He had told the victim to adopt Islam, wear a Burkha and do nikah with him after going to a maulvi. The victim had escaped and returned to her father’s house after refusing the religious conversion. The police has filed crime against the accused under abduction, rape, breach of trust, and anti-love jihad act or Gujarat Freedom of Religion (Amendment) Act 2021.
