Jamnagar man returned from Zimbabve tested covid positive with Omicron variant

Jamnagar: A 72-year old male who returned from African country Zimbabwe to SVPI airport in Ahmedabad and traveled to Jamnagar by road on November 28 has been detected Covid-19 positive with omicron variant. This is third reported case of covid infection with Omicron variant in India. The other two cases have been from Karnataka State. Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel held a high-level meeting in this regard in State capital Gandhinagar and reviewed the readiness of State’s health department.
The sample of the elderly man was sent for genome sequencing after he tested positive for COVID-19 on Thursday. “A person is found omicron positive in Jamnagar. We’ve isolated him & are monitoring him. A micro containment zone has been made where he is living. In the area, we will do the tracing, testing of people,” said Manoj Aggarwal, ACS, Health & Family Welfare Dept, Gujarat.
