Rajkot: A new airport in Rajkot which is presently called Hirasar airport is likely to see the first operation of air services from 15 August 2022. Those involved in the project are working with 15th August 2022 as target date. The main terminal building however will not complete the construction phae by that date. The flights are likely to be operated initially from a temporary terminal building, it is learnt. So far 2100 meter runway out of total 3040 meter total length has been completed. It’s worth noting that Gujarat is going to witness general election of State assembly in December 2022 if on schedule. The model code of conduct will be effective prior to that. The government is moving ahead with the project with target to invite the Prime Minister for its inauguration before the model code of conduct is in place. DeshGujarat
