Unseasonal rainfall at Rajkot and other places of Gujarat

Rajkot: Rajkot city and surrounding villages in the Rajkot district witnessed light rainfall today, as predicted by IMD forecast.
There was a change in the weather in Rajkot district from yesterday evening. The light rain had started in Rajkot city and several villages from midnight.
The Rajkot yard had imported 1 lakh bags of groundnuts yesterday out of which a total of 70 thousand bags of groundnuts were damaged due to the rain.

The areas of Rajkot city namely Morbi road, 150 feet ring road, Kalawad road, Yagnik road, Race course road, greenland chokdi, Ajidam and so on witnessed light rain. There is also an increase in the cold due to the rain.
The flight from Mumbai to Rajkot, which arrives at 6.30 am in Rajkot couldn’t land at Rajkot airport due to the rain. A SpiceJet flight was also delayed by an hour.
Meanwhile IMD has in its forecast till 8.30 am tomorrow (29th) predicted that light rain is very likely at isolated places in the districts of North Gujarat region namely
Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Kheda, Banaskantha, Sabarkantha, Dahod, Panchmahal and in Kutch district.
Unseasonal rainfall is attributed by IMD to western disturbance that lies as a trough in mid and upper tropospheric westerlies with its axis at 5.8 km above mean sea level which now runs
roughly along Long. 68°E to the north of Lat. 22°N. A trough runs from northeast Rajasthan to Vidarbha across West Madhya Pradesh at 0.9 km above mean sea level. DeshGujarat
