Textile markets in Surat join nationwide bandh against GST hike
December 30, 2021
Surat: The textile market in Surat is on a one-day strike today, following the order of Federation of Surat Textile Traders Association (FOSTA) to keep over 70 thousand textile shops of all the 170 textile markets closed in the city.
The textile merchants have kept their shops closed and various bodies associated with the textile market have also arranged protests at various places. The strike is in protest of the GST rates to be increased to 12 % from 5 % on the textile industry. FOSTA president Manoj Agarwal informed that they are on a one day token strike with demand of not increasing GST rates. There are no political benefits of any kind in this strike and only the trade unions are active, he added. DeshGujarat
