Gandhinagar: The Maha Punya Kal on Makar Sankranti or Uttarayan festival on 14th January this year will be during 2.30 pm to 8.23 pm.

The festival of Makar Sankranti is celebrated when Surya Dev enters into Makar Rashi, as per Hindu rituals. There is special importance of donation, charity work and virtues or ‘Punya’ on this festival.

This year, Surya Dev will enter Makar Rashi at 2.30 pm on Friday- 14th January. The period of ‘Kamurta’ will end with the same. There will be Rohini Nakshatra till 8.18 pm at night on Friday. The Makar Sankranti will be celebrated in Rohini Nakshatra, BrahmaYog and BalavKaran this year.
