Congress MLAs make controversial remarks in Gandhinagar gathering

Gandhinagar: A small size gathering of Mahila Seva Dal (women’s wing of Seva Dal) was in news for acidic remarks from the stage and also for minor clash with police.

Congress MLA from North Gujarat, Geniben Thakor in her address to this gathering of women gave a call to pour petrol and burn alive those who do atrocity on women. Another Congress MLA Chandrikaben Bariya in her address asked to pull out the eyes of those sitting in the ‘rapist BJP government’.

Though the permission to this programme was give by police only for a public meeting, an announcement to hold the march to the State assembly was made from the Stage at the end of the meeting. This resulted into a minor clash between police and Congress workers including Seva Dal’s national president Laljibhai Desai and Mahila Seva Dal’s Gujarat unit chief Pragati Ahir. Police prevented the attempt to hold the march with minimum use of force.

The Superintendent of Police, Mayur Chavda said that the permission of Mahila Divas programme was given only for a function. Some persons gave provocative remarks during the function and left the place. Later an announcement was made to hold the march. This was a pre-planned conspiracy.
