Gujarat govt sends proposal of a mega textile park at Vansi-Borsi to Centre

Surat: The state government has sent a proposal to the central government to establish a PM Mega Integrated Textile Region and Apparel (PM-MITRA) Park as part of Surat-Navsari Twin City project in 1000 acres land at Vasi-Borsi at the seashore of Jalalpor taluka in Navsari.
The Union State Minister of Railways and Textiles Darshana Jardosh announced that a total 17 proposals were received from 13 state governments for the PM-MITRA park scheme. The primary project proposals are sent to the project approval committee for the checking. The central government has approved Rs 4445 crore to establish 7 PM-MITRA parks in green field/brown field sites with plug and play facilities and global infrastructures. The last date for submitting proposals was 15th March 2022. The states including Gujarat, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Rajasthan, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Orissa have proposed for getting the PM-MITRA park. It is expected that each park will generate 1 lakh direct and 2 lakh indirect jobs.
A new industrial belt will be developed by making a bridge on the Mindhola river connecting Abhva in Surat with Ubhrat along with PM Mitra park. Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce chairman Ashish Gujarati and former chairman and chairman of mega textile park committee of the chamber BS Agarwal had appealed to state BJP chief CR Patil regarding the proposed land following which the state government ordered GIDC to acquire that government land.
