Udhna to be the first railway station in Gujarat to have elevated concourse

Surat: Udhna railway station will be the first railway station in Gujarat to have an elevated concourse after its redevelopment.

The tenders are issued for Udhna railway station’s redevelopment worth Rs 212 crore. The tenders are likely to be allotted till May 2022. Udhna railway station will be the second in India to have elevated concourse after Varanasi railway station. An elevated area with 40-meter width and 60-meter length will be constructed at 9-meter height above platform number 1 and 2. It will have 4 lifts and 3 escalators. The escalators will provide reach to each platform. It will also have gaming equipment for children and a restaurant. It will have a waiting area for passengers from where they can view the movement of trains.

An LED screen will be installed in the waiting area similar to the airports, through which the passengers can view the information of which train will arrive at which platform. It is estimated that the traffic of around 75290 passengers daily will be on the station till 2040 and a traffic of 101825 passengers will be there till 2060. DeshGujarat
