Chhotu Vasava meets Kejriwal; Sisodiya to visit Gujarat

Gandhinagar: Chhotubhai Vasava, a founder of Bharatiya Tribal Party (BTP) and MLA from Jhagadia constituency in Bharuch district of Central Gujarat, today called on the founder of Aam Admi Party (AAP), Arvind Kejriwal in New Delhi. BTP is in talks with AAP for last over a month. BTP has two MLAs in Gujarat and two in Rajasthan. BTP had been with Congress and Janata Dal United (JDU) in the past. BTP had contested year 2017 elections of Gujarat State assembly in tie-up with Congress. BTP’s strength has been in few tribal pockets of eastern Gujarat tribal belt but it has never gone up beyond two seats. Father-son Chhotu Vasava and Mahesh Vasava’s strength at present is however questionable, as their only forte Jhagadia constituency voted overwhelmingly for BJP in Lok Sabha and Panchayat polls in the recent past. Political pundits, prima facie believe that if any tie up between AAP-BTP is announced, it may cut opposition vote in handful of seats in a few pockets of tribal belt and help ruling BJP there. In another AAP related headline today in the context of Gujarat election, the Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi and AAP’s number two leader Manish Sisodiya has made announcement that he would visit Gujarat on Monday to see the state of its schools.
