Ram Navmi procession hit by violence in Khambhat; One dead

Khambhat: Ram Navmi procession of Hindu organizations came under attack in Shakkarpur area of Khambhat town in Central Gujarat. One person is reportedly dead in this incident of violence. The victim was first taken to local hospital and later to Petlad town for treatment in 108 emergency service ambulance, however he couldn’t survive.
The procession of Ram Navami takes place every year, however for last two years it was not held due to covid-19 pandemic.
The procession timing was 4 pm today. According to local MLA Mahesh Rawal, Hindus were holding peaceful procession. Some anti-social persons belonging to other community started pelting stones. However the Hindus kept calm and extended their cooperation for peaceful conclusion of this procession.
MLA further said he had spoken to DSP, Collector, MoS Home and Chief Minister and large number of police force had arrived for deployment in sensitive area.
Some arson incidents are reported from Tower chawk area of town. Police has restored peace. DeshGujarat
