Gujarat tops NITI Aayog’s Energy & Climate Index

New Delhi: Gujarat has topped the NITI Aayog’s State Energy and Climate Index-Round 1 in the larger states category.
Gujarat has scored 50.1 points on the basis of 6 parameters namely discoms’ performance, access affordability and reliability of energy, clean energy initiatives, energy efficiency, environmental sustainability, and new initiatives. Kerala and Punjab have ranked second and third respectively among larger states.
Goa topped in the category of small states, followed by Tripura and Manipur. The six parameters include a total of 27 indicators. The states and union territories have been categorized into three groups — front runners, achievers, and aspirants; on the basis of the outcomes of State Energy and Climate Index-Round 1 scores.
