Gujarat govt increases income limit criteria for assistance to SC, EBC, minority students

Gandhinagar: Gujarat government has increased the income-limit for the aids given to the beneficiaries of scheduled castes (SC), progressing castes, minorities and Economically Backward Class (EBC), to Rs 6 lakh today on the 131st birth anniversary of Dr B.R. Ambedkar, as informed by minister of social justice and empowerment Pradipbhai Parmar.
This will benefits over 1 lakh beneficiaries. The state government will have to bear additional Rs 50 crore for the same. The income limit for students from reserved categories was Rs 2.50 lakh, and it was Rs 1.20 lakh for beneficiaries in rural areas and Rs 1.50 lakh for beneficiaries in urban areas earlier, as per a statement.
