More about Diyodar plant of Banas Dairy that shall be inaugurated by PM Modi

Palanpur: Chairman of Banas Dairy, Shankarbhai Chaudhary in his address to the press conference at the newly built plant of the dairy at Diyodar in Banaskantha district, informed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the newly built Banas Dairy plant at Sanadar near Diyodar, spread over 151 acre. The Prime Minister will inaugurate the newly built Banas Dairy campus, potato processing and product unit as well as the Doodhvani community radio station (FM 90.4). The Prime Minister is also going to address a large meeting of the women animal husbandry farmers of the district.

The Prime Minister will also do E-inauguration and E-foundation ceremonies from the event of various other projects of Banas Dairy. E-inauguration will be done of the renovated Cheese & Whey Powder plant in Palanpur, Banas Gobar Gas plant and Bio CNG Station at Dama (Deesa). E-foundation ceremony will be held for the four new Gobar Gas plants at Khimana, Ratanpura (Bhildi), Radhanpur and Thavar (Dhanera).

Chaudhary stated that this is the first instance in India where a second dairy plant is being constructed in a single district. Chaudhary termed the construction of the state-of-the-art dairy plant an achievement; as the plant was constructed in a short span of 18 months, starting from June 2020 when the COVID-19 pandemic was at its peak. Machines equipped with the latest technology are installed in the plant, imported from seven different countries. Initially, the milk processing capacity of the plant will be 30 lakh litre per day, which will be eventually increased to 50 lakh litre per day. Per day production capacity of the plant is 100 tonne butter, 1 lakh litre ice-cream, 20 tonne khoya and 6 tonne chocolate enrobing. The potato processing unit in the main campus, adjacent to the dairy plant has the capacity of processing 48 lakh tonne potatoes on a daily basis. The main campus will also house the FM 90.4 Banas Community Radio Station for educating and guiding the farmers regarding animal husbandry. This is the first case of a cooperative dairy operating a community radio station.

Chaudhary recalled the visionary founder of the dairy, Late Galbabhai Patel, whose vision has resulted in the progress and expansion of the dairy. Chaudhary informed that the total milk production of Banas Dairy has increased to 90 lakh litre per day in the last seven years, which was 40 lakh litre per day for five decades since the inception of the dairy. Chaudhary gave the credit for this achievement to the hard work of the milk farmers and the resourcefulness of the officials and the administration of the Banas Dairy.
