Former Vadgam Congress MLA Manibhai Vaghela formally joins BJP

Vadgam: Former Congress MLA from Vadgam, Manibhai Vaghela today joined ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in presence of thousands of cadres and supporters. He was formally inducted to party by State party chief CR Patil. Manibhai Vaghela had defeated then heavyweight BJP leader Fakirbhai Vaghela in assembly election in Vadgam.
This was CR Patil’s second visit to Vadgam in a month. The seat has been conventionally pro – Congress in the elections due to major presence of Muslim voters. However BJP has won this seat in the past.

The function to induct Manibhai to party was held at Magarwada in Vadgam constituency itself instead of State party headquarters Shri Kamalam in Gandhinagar.
Patil prior to attend the function, visited Manibhadra Vir Dada mandir where he was weighed against 100 ks Sukhdi sweet. The function was attended by BJP leader Rajnibhai Patel, Prabhari Nandaji Thakor, Prabhari Sureshbhai Shah, district chief Gumansinh Chauhan, minister Kirtisinh Vaghela, MLA Shashikant Pandya, former MP Haribhai Chaudhary and other party leaders.
Vadgam seat was lastly won by left leaning activist Jignesh Mevani as an independent candidate with support of the Congress party. DeshGujarat
