Prashant Kishor declines to join Congress: Party spokesperson

New Delhi: Amid speculations that election strategist Prashant Kishor may lead the Gujarat assembly election strategy and campaign plan, the Congress party has today announced that Prashan Kishor has declined to join the party.

Congress party spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala tweeted: Following a presentation and discussions with Sh. Prashant Kishor, Congress President (Sonia Gandhi) has constituted a Empowered Action Group 2024 and invited him (Prashant Kishor) to join the party as part of the group with defined responsibility. He declined. We appreciate his efforts and suggestion given to party.

It’s worth noting that Prashant Kishor had more than one meetings with party chief Sonia Gandhi and other top leaders over year 2024 Lok Sabha general elections strategy. However like in the past, no concrete outcome has arrived over his joining Congress party or taking some kind of role.

Meanwhile, Prashant Kishor in his tweet stated: I declined the generous offer of Congress to join the party as part of the EAG & take responsibility for the elections. In my humble opinion, more than me the party needs leadership and collective will to fix the deep rooted structural problems through transformational reforms.
