May 07, 2022
Gandhinagar: BJP councilor from Kuberanagar ward in Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC), Gitaben Vishalsinh Chavda was again declared victorious today after recounting of votes as per the Supreme Court order.
Gitaben was declared victorious last year also in regular election of AMC, however rival Congress candidate Jagdish Mohnani had went to court challenging the verdict. After recounting today, the result remained same and Gitaben Chavda was declared victorious by margin of 662 votes.
Mohnani meanwhile told media persons that he would again go to the High Court demanding fair justice to male candidates. He argued that while there are two reserved seats for women, the other two seats in the ward should be reserved for men. He said Kubernagar ward has three female councilor and one male councilor which is injustice to males. He said he would challenge the verdict again on this ground in the high court. DeshGujarat
