Cabling to go underground in coastal Una-Rajula-Amreli to prevent power disruption during cyclone

Amreli: Underground cabling will be done in the 20 kms coastal belt of Una-Rajula-Amreli to strengthen the power distribution infrastructure that is vulnerable to natural calamities such as Hurricane Taukte, minister of state for agriculture and energy, Mukesh Patel informed.
The minister was speaking at a programme to felicitate employees of the electricity office who worked tirelessly in the aftermath of Hurricane Taukte to restore power supply in the affected areas was held under the auspices of the minister of state for energy at Malanka near Mendarda.
People in the coastal belt always live under fear of power supply getting disrupted by hurricanes and storms. To permanently address this problem, the power distribution infrastructure will undergo complete transformation in the 20km long coastal belt using funds from the central government’s RDSS project.
From the junior most electricity employee , to circle officer to chief engineers and even officials of the Power Grid Corporation were felicitated with a scarf and a shield. The programme was attended by almost 1,200 employees from the power sector. DeshGujarat
