13 deaths in Gujarat in connection with Tauktae cyclone: Rupani

Gandhinagar: Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani today said 13 deaths are reported in connection with Tauktae cyclone in Gujarat. Over 5,000 villages had power failure, 5 substations of 220 KV each, 165 substations of 66 KV each were affected. Over 69,000 power poles were uprooted. 674 roads were closed. Rupani said summer crops and horticulture cultivation suffered damaged due to cyclone. Some houses are also damaged. Deaths of cattle are also reported. The Government will give assistance for damage to cattle, kachcha houses and farms after survey is carried out. He said survey will also be carried out for damage to fishermen. He said cash doles will be paid as per government norms.

Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani today while speaking to media persons said, the cyclone will continue to progress through Gujarat by late in the evening today. The cyclone has weakened. Due to advanced planning in details by administration, no major calamity has happened. As many as two lakh persons were shifted to safer places.
