NID Gandhinagar declared containment zone after 5 new corona cases detected

Gandhinagar: The National Institute of Design (NID) in Infocity-Gandhinagar has been declared a containment zone after 5 more students tested corona positive on Thursday and the health department has hung a board of ‘Prohibited Area’ on its gates. All 5 students got infected after coming in contact with other corona-affected students. Including the fresh cases, there are 10 cases of corona that have been detected at NID.

Health department authorities have become vigilant and are conducting surveillance on the campus. It is during the rapid tests conducted on 300 people that the fresh 5 cases returned positive for corona. All these five students have been infected after coming in contact with two students who had tested positive for corona earlier.

After GNLU, NID is another educational institute to have been declared as a containment zone in Gandhinagar. To avoid further transmission of the virus, students have been instructed to avoid coming into contact with each other.

300 Rajbhavan-fire dept employees tested for corona ahead of PM’s visit

RTPCR tests of as many as 300 employees of Raj Bhavan and the fire department have been carried out keeping in mind the Prime Minister’s programme at Mahatma Mandir on May 28. Even tests will be conducted on the chief minister and other ministers who will come in contact with the Prime Minister during this programme.
