May 30, 2022
Amreli: Dudhala village in Lathi taluka of Amreli district will be the first village in Gujarat to become entirely solar powered. It will also be the first village where a philanthropic donor will bear the expense of fitting solar on every rooftop in the village.
Govindbhai Dholakia, who originally hails from this village but is currently living in Surat, recovered from a serious illness and thought of repaying the debt he owes to his native village. As part of this plan, he has decided to provide financial assistance to every villager equal to their age and also provided Rs 4 crore to get solar fitted on the rooftops of each and every home in the village irrespective of its size.
Almost 50% of the homes in the village have already been fitted with solar and fitting the remaining 50% homes is expected to be completed in the coming 3 months. There are 300 homes in Dudhala village.
The very few entirely solar-powered villages owe their status to the government. Dudhala will be the first village where a private individual has agreed to bear the expense of making an entire village solar powered. DeshGujarat.
