Gandhinagar: Congress party’s former candidate from Maninagar assembly seat, Shweta Brahmbhatt and her father Narendrabhai Brahmbhatt joined ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today at State party headquarters Shri Kamalam. State party chief CR Patil inducted both Congress leaders along with other Congress/NSUI cadres and supporters by offering them saffron caps and scarves. Sweta and Narendra Brahmbhatt had met Prime Minister Narendra Modi during Modi’s visit to Gandhinagar in recent past.
After her joining, Shweta Brahmbhatt in her address and replies said, ‘I was always admirer of Prime Minister Modi. When I met him, the respect for him grew even further. His dedication and drive for the country is inspiring.
She said, Congress is like a boat which is being taken to five persons aboard to five different directions. There’s no management, there’s groupism and there’s no central leadership there.
Shweta Brahmbhatt, an Amadavdi by birth, is the daughter of former Congressman Narendra Brahmbhatt, who ran for the AMC in 2000.
After earning the BBA degree from the city, she went on to do a master’s from the University of Westminster, London. She worked as an investment banker with HSBC and Darashaw. Being in the corporate world has always been her dream.
Inspired by her father at that time, she wanted to pursue the political leadership course at IIM Bangalore. “I had to choose between my job and the course and I chose the latter,” Brahmbhatt said. “I was among the 26 women and the only person from Gujarat in that course, which aims to create women leadership in parliament and legislative assemblies.
Later in the 2017 Gujarat Election, Congress had fielded Shweta from Maninagar, a bastion of the BJP. Though she lost the election badly, she became a big name as she ran from the seat which was once held by Narendra Modi. DeshGujarat
