Gujarat to open two ‘Sainik Schools’ at Mehsana and Palanpur

Gandhinagar: To inspire youths in Gujarat to join the army, the state government with the help of the central government plans to open two ‘Sainik Schools’ in the campuses of the Banas Dairy and Dudhsagar Dairy. Besides this, there are plans to open government colleges at five places and the state will hold the ‘shala praveshotsav’ between June 23 and June 25.

The decision to open two ‘Sainik Schools’ at Palanpur and in Mehsana was taken at a cabinet meeting. Both these schools will teach the CBSE syllabus as well as train the students for entering the armed forces.

The ‘shala praveshotsav’ will be conducted in the state between June 23 and June 25 and the chief minister will preside over the state-level function whereas MPs, MLAs, ministers, IAS and IPS officers will preside over the district-level functions. Each of these dignitaries will visit three primary schools for enrolling students.

Government colleges will be opened in non-tribal areas such as Limbayat, Varaccha, Jasdan, Bagasra and Palitana. A science, commerce and arts college will come up in Limbayat, a science college at Varaccha and Jasdan, and an arts and commerce college will come up in Palitana. In the tribal area of Santrampur, a new science college will come up. Kachal, Dediapada, and Khergam will get a science college each, while in Umarpada a commerce and science college will be built.
