AAP leader in Jetpur arrested for extorting money from local businessman

Jetpur: The former chief of the Jetpur city unit of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has been arrested by cops after a complaint was filed against him for trying to extort money from a local businessman.

Bhavesh Ginoya, the Jetpur city AAP chief, had filed an application with the Gujarat Pollution Control Board (GPCB) and PGVCL alleging that a Sari-making factory, which was closed down by the GPCB in 2018, was still functioning secretly. Bhavesh had demanded Rs 20 lakh from the proprietor of the closed unit (Jay Gautami Textile) in return for withdrawing his applications.

Meanwhile a video of Bhavesh Patel allegedly demanding ransom from owner of Gautami Textile had gone viral. The involvement of another person named Indrish is also suspected in demanding ransom. The owner of Gautami textile Ramnik Butani alleged that Bhavesh Patel demanded ransom from him. He allegedly demanded ransom for an RTI over a closure notice of the factory of Gautami textile. The businessman alleged that Bhavesh Patel had earlier demanded Rs 50 lakh, and then reduced it to Rs 25 lakh, and further reduced it to Rs 20 lakh. DeshGujarat
