June 17, 2022
Gandhinagar: The Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation’s decision to name an 80-feet road in Rasayan after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mother, Hiraba, has been put in abeyance.
The Municipal Commissioner of Gandhinagar on Thursday said that the civic body had no authority to decide the name of any road because of which the decision to name a road after the PM’s mother cannot be implemented. No such proposal can be granted approval, he added.
The state government has declared the Gandhinagar civic body as a municipal corporation but has not granted it full status. Even today, the civic body has to seek approval from the state government before undertaking any new project.
The state government is yet to take a decision as regards the rules and regulations for the Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation (GMC). As soon as the rules and regulations for GMC are decided, the decision to name the road after PM Narendra Modi’s mother will be implemented. DeshGujarat.
