Surat court dismisses bail plea of cop accused of collecting fines during lockdown by issuing fake receipts

Surat: A Surat court has dismissed the bail petition of police constable Ramiz Solanki, who allegedly printed fake receipts and used them to collect fines to the tune of Rs 5.15 lakh during the corona lockdowns.
Solanki, who is a resident of the Rampura police line, was the wireless operator in the government car of Kapodra police station. He, along with the car driver Pratap Lakhubhai Chavda, got printed fake receipts of the kind that the government issues at the time of collecting compromise fines on the spot at the time of offences that come under the ambit of the Motorvehicle Act.
The duo got printed 8 books of such fake receipts, with 100 receipts in each book, and used them to collect fines to the tune of Rs 5.15 lakh and used the proceeds for their personal use. DeshGujarat
