GSRTC introduces electric buses on Ahmedabad – Gandhinagar route

Ahmedabad: The efforts to offer environment friendly modern electric bus connectivity between Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar have finally borne fruit with office bearers of the Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC) flagging off six such buses from Panchdev Mandir.

These electric buses, all of which are fully air-conditioned, will ply on six different routes in Ahmedabad. The plans are for operating 24 more such buses in the coming days.

Thousands of passengers commute between the twin cities of capital Gandhinagar and Ahmedabad daily and the State Transport Corporation offers connectivity currently using diesel-operated buses. The launch of these eco-friendly buses will lead to a significant drop in pollution levels in the future.

The plan for launching a service using e-buses was in the offing for the last 2-3 years but the execution had been delayed because of the corona pandemic.

Though at the present only six buses have been assigned which will operate on the Krishnanagar, Thakkarnagar, Paldi, and Sarkhej routes, the plan for the future is to add 24 more such e-buses in order to strengthen the public transport between the two cities without adversely impacting the atmosphere.
