Panchmahal: The police have raided a slaughterhouse near Vachesar lake in Shahera and freed 23 animals who had been kept without water and fodder as well as arrested 9 butchers from this spot in this matter. However, the main accused along with two other accused have managed to escape the clutches of the law.
The cops found 22 heads of cows, 950 kgs of beef, as well as the skin and body parts of the slaughtered animals from the spot. The value of the beef and the three cars seized during this operation comes to Rs 13.35 lakh.
The police had conducted the raid based on a tip-off that Sohail alias Chadra Hanif Pathan and Mohsin alias Matto Sikandar Pathan were slaughtering cows, milch cattle, and young calves in their houses and some of their customers too were at the spot.
The search operations at the spot revealed shocking facts. In few of the residential houses, they could find heads of young slaughtered calves, and 950 kgs of beef in a plastic bag.
At a desolate place a little further from these homes, a few more heads of calves were found scattered on the ground.
The police seized the beef and got it analyzed by a veterinarian on the spot. The Safai workers of the local body then destroyed the entire quantity of beef by burying it in the ground. DeshGujarat
