Bopal to start receiving Narmada water from Sunday: 1.25 lakh people to benefit

Ahmedabad: Residents of the Bopal area of Ahmedabad will start receiving Narmada water beginning July 24. The project that will supply the Narmada water to 1.25 lakh residents of Bopal will be inaugurated by Union Home Minister Amit Shah on that day. Narmada water from the civic body’s Jaspur treatment plant will flow into taps in Bopal.
Three overhead tanks have been constructed to ensure the supply of drinking water with adequate pressure in 25,000 homes of Bopal. Shah will also inaugurate homes for economically weaker sections.
AMC’s standing committee chairman informed that AUDA will be supplying Narmada water to the Bopal area, which has recently been brought within municipal limits. An underground sump of 1 lakh litres capacity has been constructed for this purpose. As many as 6 overhead tanks with 30,000 litres capacity each can be filled with the water supplied from this sump.
The three overhead tanks near Sterling Hospital, DPS School and Honest-Vasant are already ready.
