Talatis in Gujarat declare indefinite strike from 2nd August
August 01, 2022
The talati cum mantris in Gujarat are likely to go on indefinite strike from 2nd August to press the government to accept their pending demands.
Talatis under the panchayat department had previously called a strike over several issues. It was withdrawn after the state government assured to resolve the issues in a meeting of the office bearers of the federation in the presence of the panchayat minister about nine months ago.
They have again called a strike from 2nd August complaining that no steps had been taken by the state government after passing of nine months of the previous resolution. The issues include to make talatis on fixed-pay as permanent employees, not to allot any additional work except panchayat works, to give the benefits of revenue talatis to the panchayat talatis and so on. Around 8500 talatis serve across the state at present. DeshGujarat
