Prime Minister Modi to dedicate ‘Regional Science Centre’ worth ₹ 90 crore at Bhuj

Gandhinagar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will dedicate the Regional Science Centre at Bhuj on 28th August, 2022. A number of regional centres are being established in Gujarat under the guidance of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel. The aim is to promote science and technology amongst the people.

The centre is spread across 10 acres and built at a cost of ₹90 crores. The centre has been established at Madhapar Road, near Smritivan. It falls under Gujarat Council on Science and Technology (GUJCOST) under the Department of Science and Technology, Government of Gujarat.

 

The aim of regional science centre is to create interest amongst people in science and technology, especially children, students and the youth.

Various training programs in the field of science and technology will be organised for students, technicians, scientists, divyangs and others.

There are 6 theme based galleries :

Space Science Gallery: It will have theme based rides on various astronomical and celestial objects. At the same time, there will be exhibitions showcasing research on the galaxy’s past, present and the future.

Marine Navigation Gallery : An exhibition showcasing history of marine navigation, International marine codes, processes used in marine navigation, its tools and equipments will be presented here.

Energy Science Gallery : Various energy based concepts and theories have been presented in an interesting format. Visitors will be able to understand how energy affects our daily lives.

Nano Technology Gallery: Various principles, tools, techniques and applications of nano-technology have been showcased here. A number of products will be showcased highlighting the current use of nanotechnology in human life and the change it will bring in the future.

Bonsai Gallery : Various live samples of bonsai in addition to the art of cultivating bonsai and its science will be displayed here. There is a bonsai workshop which will allow visitors to grow their own bonsai.

Fields Medal Gallery: This gallery is dedicated to mathematicians who have ben honoured with a Fields Medal. To add, it showcases mathematicians of India who have made leading contribution in the field of mathematics.

Features of Bhuj Science Centre

Besides galleries, the centre has a submarine simulator, marine navigation simulator, 3D theatre, solar tree, sculpture based on Fibonacci principle, nano-tunnel for children, PSLV rocket model, bonsai garden, and workshops with state-of-the-art facilities. This will provide hands-on experience to visitors, especially students and researchers. A science themed park is being developed around the entire centre where an outdoor performance can also be enjoyed.

Apart from this, a solar panel with the capacity of generating 95 kV of clean energy has been installed here in partnership with Gujarat Energy Development Agency to. It aims to inspire visitors to adapt such clean energy models.

This Regional Science Centre at Bhuj will become a hub for science and technology-based innovation in Kutch. Various district and state level science-based programmes will also be organised throughout the year.
