Gujarat Youth Congress President Vishwanath Vaghela quits party; Pen down a hard hitting resignation letter
September 04, 2022
Gandhinagar: Just 24 hours before Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s visit to Gujarat, the President of Gujarat unit of Youth Congress has resigned from primary membership of party. Vaghela has also left the post of Gujarat State Youth Congress President. Vaghela had joined Congress party’s Students wing NSUI in 2004 as a student of Maninagar Science College.
Vaghela has in his resignation letter mentioned that –
I was experiencing that the present Congress party is not for serving the nation but for bhakti of one family only. I won NSUI Ahmedabad city chief election in 2010, NSUI national election in 2013 and won, Youth Congress generals secretary election in Gujarat in 2016 and won, I contested state president election of Youth Congress in 2021 and won but it costed me a lot. 2010 and 2013 NSUI elections costed Rs. 23 lakh while 2019 and 2021 Youth Congress elections costed Rs. 1 crore 70 lakh. I along with my group handed over this money to Congress party and in exchange I was given the positions. How would I respect and love the party when I had bought the positions in party by giving money. I was tolerating all weaknesses of party but now my limit of tolerance is over. I am victim of groupism among senior party leaders. A faction worked against me as I had helped a leader of other faction. When Vidhansabha gherao agitation was declared, a group of Congress did all conspiracy to ensure its failure. Only those who are rich and those who are son of some leader can work well in Congress party. For common youths there’s no place in Congress party, that’s my experience. Thousands of party youths in Gujarat and lakhs across India have left the party and the party is becoming hollow from within. But that shall not affect you as the pain of such youths don’t reach you ever because you are surrounded by sycophant persons who don’t allow correct information to reach you. Even after working for 18 years, I have not been able to know that who are your advisors.

Last 21st May and 20th August, there were events of late Rajiv Gandhi’s death and birth anniversary. Youth Congress leaders spent lakhs and reached Delhi but you didn’t turn up even for two minutes, though you were in Delhi itself. There’s no ideological clarity in Congress party and its leaders, what to do, for whom to do and how to do, nothing is decided. Thousands of youths like me are wasting their time in Congress party. If Congress had worked properly when the people gave it chance to lead the country, none other political party could even born. Congress has been working for limited number of families and it is working same way. Neither the elders get respect nor the youths like me get encouragement in Congress party. Congress is starting Bharat Jodo Yatra from September 7th, I want to ask whether Congress has worked to connect the nation so far? Ghulam Nabi Azad after working for 50 years in Congress stated the same, and I have been working for 18 years and saying the same that Congress should instead of doing Bharat Jodo Yatra start Congress Jodo Yatra.
New President appointed
Meanwhile the party appointed Harpalsinh Chudasama as the new President of Gujarat unit of Youth Congress. Chudasama is presently General Secretary of the national unit of Youth Congress.
