Specially designed AC Shav Vahini for departed souls in Shinor

Vadodara: A specially designed air-conditioned vehicle is used in Shinor taluka to take the dead bodies to the crematorium for the last rites as villagers there don’t have enough options to bear the expenses of all the rituals. Above all the service is totally free of cost and anyone can borrow a vehicle that knows four-wheel drive. The aim is to bid a respectful farewell to the departed soul.

Shaktikrupa Charitable Trust in Mota Fofalia is doing this noble work for the people of Shinor taluka to help them perform the last rites of their dear ones with dignity. They prepared a special vehicle to take any dead body in this taluka to the crematorium for the last rites. They started this service with a noble cause of helping families who are economically weak and don’t have enough options to perform the rituals.

“Our trust is giving medical services to infants till old age people for years in the area. We saw during death villagers often use open tractors to take bodies to the crematorium as it’s the only available option for them. However, it also has some limitations as during the summer and rainy season it’s difficult for people to bid a proper farewell to their dear ones. As time passed and years of experience we felt the need of a special vehicle to help these people to perform the last rites with dignity. Also during my foreign tours, I saw people spend thousands of dollars for these types of funeral services. Hence we design this special vehicle to help people from rural areas to take out the procession in a respectful way and perform the last rites of their dear ones with dignity,” said Jitubhai Patel, Managing Trustee of the trust.

He further added that they designed the vehicle in such a way that anyone who knows four-wheel driving can drive this ‘Shav Vahini’. It’s fully air-conditioned and full glass for people to get Antim Darshan and join the procession as the departed are placed at eye level. Normally we see buses used for these services need skilled drivers and no organization can afford to hire them as the service is not on daily basis. Keeping this in mind we design in such a way that any Swayamsevak can drive the vehicle. In foreign countries like America, one has to spend 3000 to 5000 dollars to get this type of funeral service and here we provide it free of cost to people. The service starts with the procession of a common poor person which was satisfactory for the trust. They are getting good response and this van is for the service of people.
