AMC Names a Medical College in Maninagar as Narendra Modi Medical College
September 15, 2022
Maninagar: Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) will name its AMC MET medical college as Narendra Modi medical college. A proposal in this regard was brought to the Standing Committee meeting of AMC today.
AMC MET college is run by AMC Medical Education Trust at LG hospital compound in Maninagar, the former assembly constituency of then Chief Minister Narendrabhai Modi. The medical college presently caters MBBS and Post Graduate (PG) courses. The college was conceptualized by then Chief Minister Narendrabhai Modi, following which he had inaugurated AMC Medical Education Trust (MET) run medical collage in 2009 with 150 MBBS seats. Now in year 2022, the college has 200 MBBS and 170 MD/MS students, benefitting the poor patients who come for treatment. Then Chief Minister Modi had planned this college so that the students of Gujarat don’t need to go outside the State for medical studies.
The executive committee meeting of AMC MET was held on 14 September. A decision was taken in the meeting that the college should be named as Narendra Modi Medical College. The proposal was further cleared by the Standing Committee of AMC today.
In other decision taken in the meeting, the Municipal Commissioner will visit New Orleans in Louisiana state of America during 8-12 October this year to participate in WEFTEC 2022 – 95th Annual Technical Exhibition & Conference organized by Pioneer Exhibition and Conventions Management Pvt Ltd. AMC will consider him on duty during these dates and bear the expenses. DeshGujarat
